LudoBites @ Royal/T

Don't know why I never got around to it the first time Ludo Bites came around, but this time I was on the ball. Heard about it when the news came out, emailed in my reservation and got a 6p slot for Friday 12/4. Never knowing how Friday traffic is from downtown to the Culver City, we left early. Way too early. So early in fact we got there before some of the fruit did that was destined for our meal (the fruit was for the ceviche was stuck on the 405!).

It was nice being the first ones there.  No pushy crowds to deal with.  We were able to walk around the store there and look at some of the art.  I got V this little doll/ornament.  Ahh.

Basically, we ate the menu. We told our friendly cosplay maid-outfitted waitress we wanted one of each item (well except for the desserts since we didn't know how full we'd be by then). Having seen pics from other blogs, I knew the portions weren't big so I was pretty sure V and I would be able to handle the 11 dishes we ordered.  It was close.

Here are the eleven dishes in order of the menu.

Near the end of our meal, Chef Lefebvre came by and chatted with many of the diners.  It was nice of him to stop by and talk to us for a good couple of minutes.  He's very personable and friendly and talkative, just like V!  The funniest part of the conversation was when he asked us where we're from.  V says she's from the Pasadena area and I said I live in Irvine, at which point he burst out and said he loves Irvine!  Huh?  Did I hear that right? Perhaps he was thinking of Newport Beach? What in the world would he be doing in Irvine. Alas, I didn't get around to asking him that as the conversation turned elsewhere.  Oh well, it was good for a laugh, especially since V is not a big fan of Irvine even though it is once again named as the safest city in the country.
